Don't Be Positive. Just Don't Be Negative.

You don't need to be Positive. Just Don't Be Negative.

Media flood us with complete negativity and a doomer mindset, while all the gurus and coaches seem to say is to STAY POSITIVE, and I’m not having any of that.

On the spectrum, I’m definitely closer to being positive, but I know people who are more on the negative side, calling themselves realists.

It’s not really the case though. I remember when someone told me, about a decade ago, “I fucked up, as usual” and I immediately went “what do you mean as usual? sometimes you do a great job, sometimes you fuck up. ‘As usual’ is the average of these, everyone fucks up sometimes”, and their face looked like they were completely enlightened with this simple idea.

Some time later, my good friend Rafał (best name in the world, obviously) introduced me to the idea of non-negativity and it was that “click” moment when you know of something and you preach it, but you never actually named it.

So here it is. To all you realists, or pessimists — there’s a simple way to improve your lives, and you don’t need to be hugging trees, and seeing everything through pink lenses!

JUST DON’T BE NEGATIVE. Don’t bark at yourself. Don’t bring yourself down. Everyone else does that for you.

You fucked up? Instead of thinking of how bad you are, smirk and say “wow, that’s unusual for me!”.

Don’t label me as a woo-woo pseudo-science guy (I don’t really care if you do tbh), but your WORDS have incredible power.

Your words and your beliefs can materialise. Some call it manifestation, or visualisation, others call it a prayer, and others call it bending reality.

Call it what you want, it doesn’t matter. Henry Ford said “whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right”.

And he’s right!

Every time you catch yourself starting to tell yourself or think “I can’t do it” — counter-think it and tell your mind to “not bark”.

Even if you slip, and tell yourself something negative, NEVER, under no circumstances, tell it out loud — not to yourself, not to others.

And see the magic happen.

I encourage you to check Chadd Wright’s story — a Navy SEAL, ultramarathon runner, and one of the most compelling voices on the power of self-talk.

The guy prepared someone who had never run more than 8km to complete a full ultramarathon (161km). His whole philosophy is built around one idea: your words either build you up or tear you down. There’s no neutral.

STAY NON-NEGATIVE & keep winning,

Raf
